About The Union
Every Friday night, our Main Hall transforms into pure chaos – the good kind – when 500 students pack in for bonkers bingo. That's just one of the ways The Union at Manchester Metropolitan University comes alive as a party venue. We're spread across three floors right in Manchester's city centre, with Oxford Road Station practically on our doorstep. Our Main Hall is where the magic happens. We've hosted everything from society performances that bring down the house to cultural festivals that spill across all our spaces. The room comes fully equipped with modern AV equipment that actually works (we check it obsessively), and our team knows exactly how to set up the lighting and sound for maximum impact. Beyond the Main Hall, we've got two studios that work brilliantly for smaller gatherings or as breakout spaces during larger events. Our Conferencing Suite adapts to whatever you throw at it – we've seen it go from formal presentations to impromptu dance floors in the space of an evening. The café stays open during events, keeping everyone fueled, while our shop stocks everything from emergency phone chargers to official Manchester Met gear. What makes parties work here is the flexibility. We can open up multiple spaces for flow, or keep things contained to one area. The Study usually serves our students during the day, but after hours it becomes another bookable space with all the tech you need. Our meeting rooms transform easily for VIP areas or organisers' bases. Everything's accessible via lifts, and we've got free Wi-Fi that actually handles hundreds of people streaming simultaneously. The building buzzes with student energy year-round, but we also welcome external bookings. Whether you're planning a society celebration, cultural festival, or any gathering that needs space to breathe, we've got rooms that work and a team that knows how to make events happen.
