About Whitespace
We run Whitespace from our base at 76 East Crosscauseway, where artist Leigh Chorlton has created something special for Edinburgh's creative community. The main room stretches about 9 meters long, with those wonderfully high ceilings that everyone comments on when they first walk in. That massive street-facing window floods the space with natural light during daytime events, though we can black it out completely when you need something more atmospheric. Our setup works brilliantly for parties and celebrations. We've got 45 chairs ready to go, plus tables you can arrange however suits your event. The theatre lighting system lets you create exactly the mood you're after, and our sound equipment means you won't need to bring your own speakers. There's even a projector if you want to screen something special or create visual effects. The small kitchen area comes in handy too - nothing fancy, just a sink, kettle and fridge, but perfect for keeping drinks cold or making tea between activities. What really makes parties work here is the flow between spaces. Your guests can move between the main white room and our enclosed courtyard out back, which gives everyone room to breathe and creates natural conversation areas. During Edinburgh Fringe, we transform into one of the festival's most interesting venues, so we know how to handle crowds and create atmosphere. The space adapts to whatever you throw at it - we've hosted everything from birthday celebrations to launch parties, workshop socials to performance events. When we're not hosting private parties, you'll find our regular life drawing classes here on Sunday evenings and Thursday nights. Being right in the heart of Edinburgh means your guests can easily grab dinner nearby before or after, and public transport links make getting here straightforward for everyone.
