About York Mansion House
Four floors of Georgian splendor make York Mansion House unlike any other venue in the city. We've been hosting events here since 1732, when this Grade I listed townhouse first opened as the Lord Mayor's residence. After our £2.4 million restoration in 2018, we're proud to share these historic rooms with you for your special occasions. The grand staircase leads you through centuries of York's history. Our State Room, with its original chandeliers and ornate plasterwork, comfortably holds up to 100 guests for conferences or celebrations. The formal Dining Room works beautifully for boardroom meetings or intimate wedding breakfasts, while the Drawing Room offers a more relaxed setting for drinks receptions. Below stairs, our Georgian kitchen – complete with period features and modern facilities – creates an atmospheric space for product launches or exhibitions. We operate on a venue-hire basis, which means you're free to bring in your preferred caterers and suppliers. This flexibility lets you create exactly the event you envision, whether that's a corporate dinner, civil ceremony, or private party. Live music fills these rooms beautifully, though we do ask guests to enjoy the music without dancing – those original chandeliers are precious and delicate. Getting here couldn't be easier. We're right in York's city center with parking and public transport nearby. Our lifts and ramps ensure everyone can access the main spaces, though the historic nature of the building means we can accommodate up to two wheelchair users at once.
