Our Upstairs Private Room has been hosting celebrations since we converted this Victorian merchant's quarters into an events space. Rich forest-green walls meet original timber beams overhead, while ornate gilt mirrors catch the light from our statement chandelier. Those decorative antlers aren't just for show – they're part of the pub's collection, gathered over decades from estate sales across Scotland. The room holds 70 for drinks receptions or 30 seated around our solid oak tables. We can configure the furniture however works best – boardroom style for 30, U-shaped for 35, or banquet seating for formal dinners. Natural light pours through the tall sash windows during daytime events, while evenings take on a more intimate feel with our warm lighting setup. Your own private bar runs along one wall, stocked with the same rotating craft beers we pour downstairs plus our full spirits selection. The bartender stays with you throughout your event, mixing drinks and keeping glasses topped up. We've installed a proper sound system and projector for presentations or background music, and the WiFi reaches every corner if you need to stay connected. The separate entrance means your guests can come and go without passing through the main pub. There's a lift for wheelchair access, and dedicated washrooms just for this space. Angel tube station sits five minutes away on foot, with both metered parking and a multi-storey car park within a two-minute walk. We regularly host birthday parties, engagement celebrations, leaving dos, and Christmas gatherings up here. The kitchen downstairs sends up sharing platters, canapés, or full three-course meals depending on what you're after. Sunday roast parties have become particularly popular, with Yorkshire puddings the size of dinner plates arriving hot from the ovens below.
