Our basement kitchen hums with energy as we prep loaded fries and seitan wings for another packed evening in Liverpool's Ropewalks district. The Private Space sits just off our main dining area, giving your group their own corner of Down the Hatch while still feeling part of the buzz that makes Duke Street special. Exposed brick walls frame the room, catching the glow from our warm lighting setup that transforms from afternoon gatherings to evening celebrations. We've arranged booth seating along one side with wooden tables filling the centre, creating natural conversation spots whether you're hosting 25 for a sit-down dinner or 30 guests mingling with drinks in hand. The quirky artwork and neon signs scattered throughout reflect our playful approach to plant-based dining, while the PA system handles everything from background music to birthday speeches. Birthday parties love the flexibility here, with groups often starting with cocktails and transitioning to our signature burgers and loaded plates. Hen dos appreciate how we craft vegan cocktails using aquafaba instead of egg whites, keeping the drinks flowing without compromise. Baby showers find the booth seating perfect for gift-opening while guests graze on sharing plates. The air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable year-round, and our Wi-Fi means party playlists stream without interruption. Transport couldn't be simpler with buses and trains connecting to central Liverpool within minutes. We're tucked away downstairs, which creates that private party feel but does mean we can't accommodate wheelchairs at present. Dogs join plenty of celebrations here, settling under tables while their humans toast special occasions. From Tuesday to Friday we're ready from 3pm, opening earlier at noon on weekends, giving you options for afternoon gatherings or evening parties in the Ropewalks' most indulgent plant-based venue.
