Step through the glass doors and you'll find yourself on our first-floor balcony, where the entire Merchant Square spreads out below through those magnificent original windows. We've watched countless celebrations unfold here at the Balcony, from raucous 50th birthdays that fill every corner to intimate baby showers gathered around our wooden tables. The private bar tucked into the corner has become something of a talking point. Our bartenders love showing groups how to muddle, shake and strain during cocktail masterclasses, and we've seen some fierce friendly competition over who makes the best espresso martini. The space holds 50 people comfortably for drinks and mingling, or we can arrange seating for 40 if you're planning a sit-down meal. Natural light pours through those historic windows all day, catching the warm tones of our exposed brick walls and highlighting the plush upholstered seating we've arranged throughout. The wooden tables work equally well for birthday cake presentations or impromptu dance floors, and we've installed a PA system that handles everything from background jazz to party playlists. Our kitchen team prepares everything fresh for balcony events, whether that's sharing platters for a hen party or a full three-course dinner for a retirement celebration. We keep extensive vegan and gluten-free options ready because we know mixed groups need variety. The space stays lively right through to midnight when we stop serving alcohol, and without noise restrictions, your celebration can maintain its energy throughout the evening.
