The Wellcome West room greets you with golden walls that catch the afternoon sun streaming through our tall Georgian windows. We've hosted countless celebrations here, from corporate awards dinners to charity galas, and the L-shaped layout always creates interesting conversation pockets during drinks receptions. Those ornate chandeliers you'll notice overhead came with the original building, and we've kept them dimmed just right to create atmosphere without overwhelming the space. Round tables work particularly well here, we can fit 90 guests comfortably for dinner, or clear the floor for 120 mingling with champagne glasses in hand. Our events team often suggests using the natural bend in the room to separate dining from dancing, or to create a quieter area for those who prefer conversation over music. The adjoining servery means our catering partners can serve hot food promptly, whether that's canapés circulating during a product launch or a three-course meal for a retirement celebration. We've found the navy and white colour scheme photographs beautifully, something many clients appreciate when they see their event photos afterwards. Being on George Street puts us right in Edinburgh's heart, with paid parking nearby and Waverley Station a 10-minute walk for guests arriving by train. The lift access to all floors helps when you're bringing in equipment or welcoming less mobile guests. Our PA system handles everything from background music to speeches, and the air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable even during packed summer receptions. The room transforms remarkably from morning conference setup with 80 theatre-style seats to evening party mode with a proper dance floor. We particularly enjoy seeing how different organisers use the space, some favouring formal banquet layouts while others opt for relaxed cabaret-style seating for 60.
