Mary Wollstonecraft's radical spirit lives on in our Main Hall, where 300 years of history creates something genuinely special for modern celebrations. When couples exchange vows beneath our circular skylight, or musicians strike the first notes on our grand piano, they're part of a story that began in 1708. The original wooden pews hold up to 150 guests across the ground floor, with the mezzanine level adding space for 20 more, often used by small choirs who love how their voices carry in this remarkable acoustic space. Natural light pours through high-set windows during daytime events, while our pendant lighting creates atmosphere for evening performances. The accessible stage anchors the room, complete with that grand piano that's witnessed countless first dances and concert encores. We've hosted everything from traditional wedding ceremonies to experimental theatre, film shoots to concert performances. The acoustics deserve special mention, sound travels beautifully here without amplification, something musicians and speakers regularly praise. For wedding receptions and parties, we can accommodate 110 for seated dining or 150 for standing celebrations, though the fixed pews mean we work with the historic layout rather than against it. Getting here couldn't be simpler, with Canonbury Overground just a short walk away and buses stopping directly outside. Our Grade II-listed building offers step-free access to the Main Hall, and we've added an accessible toilet while preserving all the period features that make this space extraordinary.
