Walking past the government offices on Whitehall, you'll find our Bulldog Bar upstairs at The Clarence, a proper escape from Westminster's usual formality. The room catches your eye immediately with its ornate ceiling mural, something you don't expect to find above a Westminster pub, while classic artwork and photographs line the walls, giving the space real character. We've set up the Bulldog Bar to work brilliantly for different occasions. The wooden tables and chairs can be arranged for 40 seated guests at a dinner party, or cleared to make room for 60 people at a standing reception. That patterned carpet might look purely decorative, but it's surprisingly good at muffling the sound of heels when your event gets lively. Natural light pours through the large windows during daytime gatherings, while the fireplace becomes a natural gathering spot when evening rolls around. The dedicated bar area means your guests won't queue for drinks, and we've installed a proper sound system that actually works when you need background music or speeches. The free WiFi is genuinely fast, not the usual pub connection that dies when more than three people log on.
