When you book the entire Counting House, both our grand ballroom and intimate lounge bar become your private domain for the evening. The ballroom draws everyone in with its spectacular glass dome crowning the space, where original Georgian chandeliers illuminate up to 240 guests mingling beneath. For seated occasions, we arrange tables for 110 diners across the polished wooden floors, with those soaring ceilings and intricate 18th-century cornicing creating an atmosphere that photographs beautifully. Your guests naturally flow between our two distinct spaces throughout the evening. The lounge bar, panelled in rich wood with its original mahogany bar, becomes the perfect spot for arrival drinks or a quieter conversation away from the dancefloor. Those leather armchairs by the traditional fireplace often become the favourite spot for older relatives at weddings, while the exposed stone walls remind everyone they're celebrating in a building that's been hosting Edinburgh gatherings since 1749. We've thought through what makes events run smoothly. Our built-in sound system fills both spaces when you want music everywhere, or keeps the party in one room while the other stays calm. The projector and large screen TV handle everything from photo montages at birthdays to first dance videos at weddings. With our 1am licence, there's no rush to wrap up, your celebration continues into the small hours. The flexibility of having both spaces works brilliantly for weddings. We've seen ceremonies in the ballroom under that magnificent dome, followed by cocktails in the lounge while our team transforms the main space for dinner. Corporate celebrations use the same flow, presentations in one room, networking in the other. Birthday parties tend to spread across both bars as the night progresses, with younger crowds claiming the dancefloor while others chat over drinks in the lounge.
