Our rock-and-roll basement has hosted some wild nights over the years, and we reckon yours could be next. The Basement at The Phoenix combines everything you need for a proper celebration: space for 200 standing guests, a private bar running the full length of the room, and that grid of neon lights overhead that transforms from subtle mood lighting to full-on party mode at the flick of a switch. The wooden floors have seen their share of dancing feet, especially during our regular Feeling Gloomy indie nights and Heavy Load vintage rock sessions. We've kept the original leather booths along the walls, perfect when your guests need a breather between songs, while high tables scattered throughout create natural gathering spots. Sam Minton's artwork brings splashes of colour to the exposed brick walls, each piece telling its own story about London's underground music scene. Your DJ can plug straight into our professional sound system, or bring in a live band to use the stage area. We've cleared this floor for everything from table tennis tournaments to comedy shows, with Frankie Boyle and Katherine Ryan both performing on our stage. The space adapts brilliantly: 180 theatre-style for presentations, 140 cabaret-style when you want tables and entertainment, or 100 for a seated dinner with dancing afterwards. Being tucked just off Oxford Street means your guests can stumble out of Oxford Circus station and find us within minutes. The private bar stocks everything from Deya craft beers to classic cocktails, and our kitchen can sort proper food throughout your event, from beer-battered fish and chips to our legendary Fillet Steak Chimichurri Subs. The basement comes with its own entrance, full AV setup including projectors, and our events team who'll rearrange furniture configurations faster than you can say "open bar".
