The Ballroom spreads out beneath a magnificent glass dome that transforms throughout the day, from morning light streaming across polished wooden floors to evening shadows dancing between our original chandeliers. This Georgian masterpiece has welcomed generations of Edinburgh celebrations since 1749, and we continue that tradition with the same sense of occasion. Our sprung floor remembers the steps of countless ceilidhs, where up to 180 guests have spun beneath the dome in traditional Scottish reels. The deep blue paneling and intricate wall patterns create an intimate atmosphere despite the room's grand proportions, while those original chandeliers cast the kind of light that makes everyone look their best in photographs. For seated dinners, we arrange round tables for up to 150 guests, each set with fine china and glassware that complements the room's heritage. The versatile space adapts beautifully, whether you're planning a formal wedding breakfast or clearing the floor for an evening of dancing. Our experienced team knows exactly how to work with the natural acoustics, ensuring speeches carry clearly and music fills the space without overwhelming conversation.
