Perched above the Grand Café's bustle, the Balcony captures that perfect blend of energy and privacy you're after for special celebrations. We've created this semi-private space for groups who want their own corner of our Grade II-listed building, complete with views across those magnificent vaulted ceilings and neoclassical pillars that make German Gymnasium so distinctive. Natural light pours through the original arched windows during daytime gatherings, while evenings bring a warm glow from our globe lighting across marble-topped tables and plush seating. The space works beautifully for 30 guests mingling with cocktails or 15 seated around tables for more intimate celebrations. From up here, your guests get a bird's eye view of the architectural drama below, yet you maintain your own private atmosphere. Our cocktail programme adds genuine theatre to proceedings, particularly the Le Whaf experience where drinks transform into aromatic vapour clouds, definitely a conversation starter. We've curated an interesting selection of German, Austrian and Hungarian wines you won't find elsewhere, plus our exclusive KX Pilsner on draught. The in-house kitchen creates dishes that complement the drinks perfectly, drawing from our Mittel-European roots with a contemporary twist. Being moments from King's Cross and St Pancras means your guests arrive easily from anywhere in London or beyond. The space stays comfortable year-round with full air conditioning, and our alcohol licence runs until 10pm.
