Books tower around you on all seven floors of The London Library, creating an extraordinary backdrop for parties that your guests won't forget. When you hire our entire venue, you step into a world where over a million volumes across 17 miles of shelves become part of your celebration. Our Reading Room serves as the heart of your event, where 200 guests can gather beneath double-height book-lined walls. The ornate ironwork balustrades frame the space beautifully, while windows overlooking St James's Square flood the room with golden evening light. The vibrant red carpet creates a striking contrast against dark wooden shelves, and we arrange round tables with crisp white linens for seated dinners of up to 100. For presentations or awards ceremonies, we configure theatre-style seating for 120 guests. The Issue Hall welcomes your guests with its historic book-issue counters intact, creating an authentic arrival experience. Up to 100 people can enjoy welcome drinks here before moving through to other spaces. Our Sackler Study offers a more intimate setting, with its faux Regency design and original Robert Adam fireplace accommodating 12 for dining or 30 for drinks receptions. The contemporary Lightwell Reading Room, with its patinated bronze panelling offering glimpses into every wing of the library, works perfectly for smaller gatherings of 30 or as a VIP retreat during larger events. Meanwhile, our Art Room showcases pieces from our extensive collection and holds 50 guests for pre-dinner receptions. Just minutes from Piccadilly Circus and Green Park stations, we open for private hire Wednesday through Saturday evenings after 5:30pm, and all day Sunday. Our approved suppliers ensure catering, production and florals match the standards our historic spaces deserve. We regularly host corporate celebrations, book launches, award ceremonies and private parties, with our book-filled walls creating perfect acoustics for both lively celebrations and speeches.
