The moment mahogany doors swing open from the marbled corridor, you step into the Main Hall and understand why couples have chosen this space for their celebrations since 1908. This 311-square-metre Victorian masterpiece makes quite the first impression, with cherub-clad covings dancing across the vaulted ceiling and granite columns rising to meet them. Natural light pours through the stained-glass windows, catching the crystals of the candelabra chandeliers and warming the original oil paintings that line our walls. The polished mahogany stage commands attention at the far end, its gently curving stairs perfect for that dramatic entrance or heartfelt speech. The sprung wooden floor beneath your feet was made for dancing, and we've seen everything from traditional waltzes to full-on ceilidhs here.
