Walking through the maze of tunnels beneath Waterloo Station, you'll discover our Gas Bottle Room, where the industrial bones of these railway arches create something truly atmospheric. We've preserved every bit of the original character here, from the exposed brick walls to the network of pipes running overhead, giving you a space that feels authentically underground. This particular arch accommodates up to 400 guests for reception-style events, or we can arrange theatre seating for 160. The low ceiling height actually works in your favour, creating an intimate feel even when the room is packed. Our vinyl flooring means you can dance, move equipment, or set up installations without worry, while the walls provide a dramatic backdrop that photographs beautifully under our customisable lighting system. We often see this space transformed for wildly different events. Last month it hosted an immersive theatre rehearsal, then transformed into a pulsing dance floor for a 30th birthday, and most recently became an atmospheric setting for a fashion brand's product launch. The lack of natural light becomes an advantage when you want complete control over the atmosphere, and our lighting options let you shift from moody and intimate to bright and energetic as your event evolves. The room connects seamlessly to our other spaces through the tunnel network, so your guests can flow between different atmospheres throughout the night. We're literally on top of Waterloo and Lambeth North stations, making arrival straightforward despite the underground location. Our midnight license covers most events, though we can arrange extensions when needed, and you're welcome to bring your preferred caterers while we handle drinks service with our corkage arrangement.
