The Great Chamber lives up to its name, with an original Tudor ceiling stretching overhead and a magnificent Jacobean fireplace anchoring the room. This is London's last surviving Tudor Great Chamber, where Elizabeth I prepared for her coronation and James I knighted his noblemen, and you can feel that weight of history in every corner. Rich green moiré silk lines the walls, creating a dramatic backdrop for the historic paintings that punctuate the space. Natural light pours through tall windows during daytime events, while evening gatherings take on an intimate glow that brings out the warm tones of the woodwork.
