The Candid Basement transforms from workshop space to party venue with just a few adjustments to our lighting and layout. Five structural pillars march down one side of this atmospheric underground room, where exposed Victorian brickwork meets concrete floors to create an industrial canvas for celebrations and creative events. We regularly host everything from band rehearsals during the day to private parties that run late into the evening. The space accommodates 100 guests for reception-style events, or we can arrange our elegant chairs and small tables cabaret-style for 80 people when you want a more intimate setup. Film screenings work particularly well here – our projector screen pulls down easily, and the basement acoustics add natural warmth to movie soundtracks. Musicians love performing in the Candid Basement. The brick walls create excellent natural reverb, and we have a grand piano permanently stationed in one corner that adds sophistication to any event. Our halogen spotlights wash the space in warm light, though many party organisers prefer to bring their own coloured lighting to transform the atmosphere completely. A PA system is available for hire when you need amplification for speeches, DJs or live performances. The concrete floors stand up to dancing crowds and high heels alike, while the brick walls provide an authentic backdrop for photo shoots during daytime hire. We've hosted everything from product launches to birthday celebrations down here, with the underground location creating a sense of discovery that guests remember long after they leave. Just minutes from Angel Station, the Candid Basement sits beneath our bustling arts centre where creative energy flows through every corridor. Your guests can grab drinks from our café upstairs before descending into this versatile space, where Victorian architecture meets modern party possibilities.
