The Refectory Room sits above the bustle of our main pub, a proper retreat that feels miles away from the cricket crowds below. We've kept the original fireplace that warms the space on chilly evenings, and filled the room with a mix of upholstered benches, armchairs and traditional seating that means your group of 30 can settle in however they like. Our private bar up here changes everything. Your guests won't need to navigate the stairs for refills, we'll pour the same traditional cask ales, craft beers and cocktails you'd find downstairs, right in your own space. The wooden floors creak just enough to remind you you're in a proper Victorian pub, while the bookshelves lining the walls give the room that library-club feel without trying too hard. We've installed a large flat-screen TV that works brilliantly for presentations or match screenings, plus an iPod-connectable sound system for when you want your own playlist setting the mood. The soft lighting catches the book spines and creates shadows in all the right corners, making evening gatherings particularly atmospheric. Getting here couldn't be simpler with Oval, Vauxhall and Kennington stations all nearby. Your guests will find us easily, and once they climb our stairs to the first floor, they'll discover this completely different world we've created. Birthday parties tend to spill across the whole room, business meetings cluster around the fireplace, and private dinners stretch along our longer tables. The beauty of the Refectory Room lies in its flexibility. We can arrange the furniture to suit your needs, keep the bar open as long as you like, and work with you to create exactly the atmosphere you're after. It's intimate enough for 20, comfortable for 30, and when you open it up for standing receptions, we can accommodate up to 80 guests.
