The First Floor Gallery's wooden floors creak slightly under your feet as you explore this 2,500 square foot loft space, where five industrial pillars march down the centre like sentinels from the building's Victorian warehouse past. We've watched countless exhibitions transform these walls – a mix of exposed brick, timber, and plasterboard that photographers particularly love for their textural variety. Large industrial windows line both sides of the gallery, and depending on the time of day, you'll see how the light plays differently across the space. Morning shoots capture soft eastern light, while afternoon events benefit from the warm glow through the western windows. The 3.5-metre high ceilings give your celebrations room to breathe, whether you're planning a drinks reception for 160 guests or arranging tables for a more intimate gathering. We provide small tables and chairs that work well for various setups, and our halogen spotlights can highlight specific areas or artworks. The wooden floors have hosted everything from wedding ceremonies to product launches, and we can arrange partition walls when you need to create separate zones within the space. There's a music system for background ambience, though we keep volumes considerate of our artist neighbours after 10pm. The gallery sits at the heart of our creative community, with artist studios and rehearsal spaces throughout the building. Your guests often comment on the authentic atmosphere, perhaps catching sight of a painter at work or hearing distant music practice as they climb the stairs. The venue café and courtyard provide natural break-out spaces, and we're just a short walk from Angel Station, making arrival straightforward for your guests.
