The Rowing Club downstairs at The Dukes Head feels like discovering London's best-kept secret. We converted this lower ground floor into something special, keeping the original wooden paneling that tells stories of Victorian Putney while adding the tufted leather seating that makes people want to stay all night. Walk down and you'll find yourself in a proper cocktail bar that knows how to throw a party. The space holds up to 120 guests comfortably, with room to breathe, dance, and actually hear conversations. Our private bar runs the length of one wall, stocked with local craft beers, spirits we've chosen carefully, and cocktails our bartenders have perfected over countless Friday nights. The layout works brilliantly for celebrations. We've carved out intimate corners with that plush leather seating for those who want to chat, while leaving the central area open for dancing when the DJ starts playing. The industrial-style lighting creates atmosphere without being too dim, and the eclectic artwork on our walls gives people something to talk about during those getting-to-know-you moments. What surprises guests is the natural light filtering through our windows, unusual for a lower ground space. Step out onto our riverside terrace and you're right there with the Thames flowing past, close enough to hear the water but tucked away from the crowds that flock to more obvious riverside spots. We've installed everything modern events need: reliable Wi-Fi, a projector for presentations or photo montages, flatscreen TV for those crucial match moments, and proper air conditioning that actually works. The sound system handles everything from background jazz to full-on party anthems, and yes, we're licensed until late. Birthday parties tend to get wild here, corporate events stay surprisingly civilised, and celebration parties of all kinds find their rhythm in this space.
