Three hundred years of history echo through the Chapel at Museum of the Home, where original wooden pews face a commanding pulpit that has witnessed countless gatherings since Georgian times. This former almshouse chapel transforms beautifully for modern celebrations, its high ceilings and checkerboard floors creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate. We've hosted everything from acoustic concerts to wedding ceremonies in this space, with up to 40 guests mingling for drinks or 30 seated in the historic pews. The soft morning light through the chapel windows creates a particularly special ambiance, though evening events carry their own magic when the space is lit by candlelight. The adjacent Reading Room flows naturally from the Chapel, giving you extra space for welcome drinks or intimate dining. What makes our Chapel particularly versatile is how it adapts to different occasions. Corporate clients appreciate the acoustics for presentations, while couples love the romantic setting for ceremonies. The original architecture, with its muted wall tones and that striking black and white floor, provides a sophisticated backdrop without overwhelming your own styling choices. Being just three minutes from Hoxton station means your guests can easily find us, and once they arrive, they're free to explore our period room galleries as part of your event. Our gardens offer lovely spots for photographs or a breath of fresh air between sessions. We provide Wi-Fi and music equipment, and you're welcome to bring your own caterers or work with our preferred suppliers. Our alcohol license runs until 10:30pm, perfect for those post-ceremony toasts or networking drinks. The Chapel opens for private hire after 5pm Tuesday through Sunday, plus all day Monday when the museum is closed to the public.
