Behind velvet curtains in our converted fire station, The Opium Saloon awaits your arrival. This private dining sanctuary seats up to 16 guests in what was once the station's most secluded quarters, now transformed into an intimate tribute to 1930s Shanghai decadence. Brass lanterns throw amber light across lacquered walls while crystal chandeliers catch and scatter it into a thousand tiny stars above your table. We've dressed the space in deep, mysterious hues, with silk draping the walls and Art Deco details revealing themselves as your eyes adjust to the intimate lighting. The banquet-style seating pulls everyone into one conversation, one shared experience, exactly as we intended when designing this hidden corner of Shanghai Noir. Our kitchen team, led by Executive Chef Amit Bagyal, sends dishes through the curtains that marry Indian soul with Chinese technique. Picture black bean scallops dissolving on your tongue, beef and wild mushroom bao arriving in clouds of steam, or if you're feeling brave, our Bhot Jolakhiya Chilli Chicken prepared with the world's hottest pepper. Our bartenders craft drinks to match, perhaps The Firecracker's negroni-turned-highball or The Shanghai's tropical margarita with aromatic surprises we've perfected over countless evenings. The room's raised position gives you privacy while keeping you connected to the energy of the main restaurant below. Natural light filters through during afternoon gatherings, while evenings bring out the full drama of our lighting design. We've installed air conditioning to keep you comfortable year-round, and complimentary Wi-Fi ensures you stay connected if needed. Just moments from St James's Park Station, with on-street parking available nearby, The Opium Saloon transforms corporate dinners, birthday celebrations, and social gatherings into something more theatrical, more memorable.
