Once you pass through the glass doors into The Cloisters, you're standing in what was once our open-air walkway. We enclosed this space back in the 1920s, but kept those soaring Etruscan columns that give the room its distinctive character. The tall windows and framed glass doors mean the room changes throughout the day as light moves across the Courtyard, creating different moods from morning meetings to evening celebrations. The columns remind many guests of a Roman villa, and there's something about the proportion of the space that makes people naturally gather and talk. We can accommodate up to 175 guests for receptions here, and the room works particularly well when combined with our Courtyard. During summer parties, guests drift between the two spaces, drinks in hand, while in winter The Cloisters becomes this warm, light-filled sanctuary looking out onto the garden. The direct access to the Courtyard through those glass doors transforms how events flow. We've hosted everything from champagne receptions where guests mingle among the columns, to product launches that use the architectural drama as a backdrop. Corporate drinks receptions work brilliantly here, as do pre-dinner gatherings where guests can spread out before moving to one of our dining rooms. What makes The Cloisters special is how it bridges our medieval building with something more contemporary. While you're surrounded by history, the abundant natural light and garden views create an atmosphere that feels fresh and current. The space sits perfectly between formal and relaxed, making it adaptable to whatever tone your event needs.
