About Merchant Taylors'
The moment you step through our medieval archway off Threadneedle Street, you're entering a building that's been hosting gatherings since the 14th century. We're Merchant Taylors' Hall, and our Great Hall remains one of the most photographed event spaces in the City of London - those 13-meter-high ceilings and three-meter-tall stained-glass windows create something truly special when the afternoon light streams through. Our nine rooms each tell their own story. The Drawing Room, with its hand-painted Chinese silk wallpaper, works beautifully for intimate wedding ceremonies or cocktail receptions. The wood-paneled Parlour overlooks our Courtyard Garden - we often see couples stealing a quiet moment here during their reception. Speaking of the garden, it's our hidden gem in the heart of the financial district, where guests can spill out for drinks or we can set up informal dining under the stars. The Great Kitchen has been in continuous use since 1425 - our chefs work in the same space where food was prepared for medieval banquets. Today, we create everything from formal silver-service dinners to relaxed street food-inspired stations. We can accommodate up to 700 guests across our spaces, though we equally love hosting smaller gatherings of 50 in just one of our rooms. Corporate clients often book the Great Hall for conferences and gala dinners, while wedding couples typically use multiple spaces throughout their day - ceremony in the Drawing Room, drinks in the Courtyard, dinner in the Great Hall. The building's layout allows natural flow between spaces, and our team knows every corner intimately. We're here in the City, easily accessible yet surprisingly peaceful once you're inside our walls.
