The Oak Room's circular design draws you in immediately, with handcrafted oak panels wrapping around the space in warm, honeyed tones. This 1891 committee room has witnessed countless important discussions, and today it continues that tradition as one of our most requested meeting spaces. Natural light streams through the leaded windows that line one wall, illuminating the intricate plasterwork overhead. The original ceiling details create an atmosphere that feels both grand and focused, perfect for board meetings where decisions matter. We've arranged the space to accommodate different working styles, whether you prefer a traditional boardroom setup for 20, theatre-style seating for 30, or a U-shaped configuration for 14 participants. The room's curved walls create excellent acoustics, something our regular clients particularly appreciate during presentations. Heavy drapes frame each window, allowing you to control the light levels throughout the day, especially useful during screen presentations or afternoon sessions when the sun moves across the building. Our original Victorian sideboard remains a functional part of the room, where we set up refreshments or materials for your meeting. The wooden chairs with their upholstered seats were chosen specifically to complement the historic oak paneling while ensuring comfort during longer sessions. We find the combination of period features and practical amenities works particularly well for strategy sessions, board meetings, and confidential discussions where atmosphere matters.
