About Black Lion
The Black Lion sits right on the Thames path between Hammersmith and Chiswick, where walkers stop to catch their breath and locals gather for Sunday roasts under our 400-year-old chestnut tree. We're a Grade II listed pub that's been serving this community for centuries, and we've got the ghost stories to prove it. Our beer garden stretches along the riverbank, giving you front-row seats to rowing crews gliding past while you sip one of our British ales. Inside, the original beams and worn floorboards tell their own stories, though we've added comfortable seating and proper heating since the place was built. For parties and events, we've got two distinct spaces. The Green House works brilliantly for larger celebrations - we can fit 80 people for a sit-down meal or 120 for drinks and canapés. Then there's our Skittle Alley, which holds 40 seated or 80 standing. Yes, it's a real skittle alley, one of the few left in London, though these days it hosts more birthday parties and wedding receptions than bowling matches. Our kitchen serves proper pub food using local suppliers, and we keep an extensive wine list alongside the ales. We regularly host wedding receptions, corporate gatherings, and birthday parties, with our team handling everything from buffets to three-course meals. The riverside location means guests can spill out onto the terrace in summer, and in winter, our fireplaces create the kind of atmosphere you want for Christmas parties. We're used to all sorts of celebrations here - from 21st birthdays in the Skittle Alley to golden anniversaries in the Green House. Each space has its own character, but both offer that proper pub feel with the flexibility modern events need.
