About Hatfield Place
Every time I drive down that tree-lined avenue to open up Hatfield Place, I have to pinch myself. This isn't your typical events venue—it's a proper Georgian manor that somehow manages to feel both grand and welcoming. We've kept all the period features (the Orangery still takes my breath away), but everything works exactly how you need it to in 2024. Last summer, we had a tech company land their helicopter on the lawn for a board retreat. The week after, it was a bohemian wedding with the ceremony in the walled garden and dancing 'til dawn in the Ballroom. That's what I love about this place—it shapes itself around whatever you need. Corporate away-day? The meeting rooms have all the gadgets. Festival-style birthday? We'll string up the festoon lights and let the band loose. The grounds are what really set us apart though. Completely private, properly looked after, with these hidden corners that photographers go mad for. And if your guests want to stay over, we've got gorgeous rooms so nobody's worrying about taxis at midnight. We even let well-behaved dogs join the party—had a golden retriever as ring bearer once. Just outside Chelmsford with the station practically on our doorstep, but you'd never know you're so close to civilization once you're here. If you're after somewhere that offers more than just four walls and a projector screen, come and walk around the grounds. Fair warning though—once you've pictured your event here, everywhere else feels a bit ordinary.
