The scent of charcoal smoke drifting from our robata grill tells you everything about what we do at Robun on George Street in Bath. We specialize in Yakiniku—the Japanese art of grilling meat, seafood, and vegetables over traditional charcoal fire—though our kitchen also turns out fresh sushi, crispy tempura, and handmade gyoza throughout the day. Our two-floor restaurant spans different moods and occasions. Downstairs, the main dining room seats up to 80 guests around tables that give views into our open kitchen. The Chef's Table sits right by the pass, where you can watch our team work the robata grill. Hand-painted murals on the walls pay tribute to Kanagaki Robun, the Japanese author who introduced Yakiniku to Japan in 1872—his influence runs through everything we do here. Upstairs in the Kanagaki Suite, we've created a more private space. The room holds 40 seated guests with its own cocktail bar, making it work equally well for corporate meetings, training sessions, or celebration dinners. We can arrange the tables however suits your group, whether that's boardroom style for 12 or banquet seating for 40. On weekends, this space transforms into our karaoke bar—proper Japanese-style private rooms where groups of 8 to 50 can sing the night away. Our bar stocks over 30 types of sake, plus Japanese whiskies you won't find elsewhere in Bath. The cocktail list draws on Japanese ingredients and techniques. For those planning longer stays, we also manage a four-bedroom maisonette above the restaurant.
