About University Women's Club
Three floors up from the bustle of Audley Square, our wood-paneled Library opens onto an intimate terrace where Hyde Park stretches out before you—a view that never fails to catch first-time visitors by surprise. We're the University Women's Club, and for nearly a century, this Grade II listed Victorian townhouse has been home to graduate and professional women seeking both connection and quiet contemplation in Mayfair. T.H. Wyatt designed this building in 1876, originally for Lord Arthur Russel, and we've carefully preserved its character while adapting our spaces for modern meetings and celebrations. Our ground-floor Dining Room seats up to 100 guests, with French windows that open directly onto our terraced garden—one of those hidden green spaces that people don't expect to find in central London. The kitchen here focuses on well-sourced, seasonal ingredients that change with what's fresh and available. Upstairs, our Drawing Room tells its own story through hand-painted Chinoiserie walls that have watched over countless gatherings since the 1920s. The grand piano in the corner gets regular use during evening receptions, and the garden views through tall windows create a backdrop that photographers particularly love. We can arrange the space for 60 to 80 guests depending on whether you need theatre-style seating for presentations or a more fluid layout for networking. Our Library works beautifully for smaller board meetings or intimate celebrations, with that terrace access providing a natural break-out space. Many groups book multiple rooms to create different atmospheres throughout their event—perhaps starting with welcome drinks in the Drawing Room before moving to the Dining Room for dinner. We handle everything from corporate conferences to wedding receptions, with our team adapting each space to suit your specific needs while maintaining the distinctive character that makes our venue memorable.
