Four floors of creative chaos await you at The Roost, where a former Victorian pub has evolved into one of Dalston's most characterful party spaces. We've kept every bit of the building's 1863 soul intact, from the worn Georgian features to the eclectic furniture collection we've gathered over decades. Walking through, you'll discover each floor has developed its own personality. The ground level opens directly onto our mature garden through original French doors, creating that perfect indoor-outdoor flow parties naturally crave. Upstairs, bold striped wallpaper meets a striking map of Africa, while two original fireplaces frame the space. Our magenta chairs and black-and-white striped sofas might seem random, but somehow they work perfectly against the wooden floors and vintage backdrop. The whole venue accommodates up to 150 guests standing or 100 seated across all four floors. Most parties find their own rhythm here, with groups naturally spreading between the cozy library corner with its dark wood shelves and classic sculptures, the dining area with its marble table and mismatched chairs, and those lighter spaces where ornate chandeliers catch the afternoon sun through stained glass accents. Our commercial kitchen means proper catering is always an option, whether you're bringing your own chef or working with our recommended suppliers. We're fully licensed for weddings too, so ceremonies can happen right here among all the character. The unpolished, raw feel of the space makes it brilliant for styling, from minimal setups that let the building's bones show through to elaborate themed parties that transform each room completely. Just a short walk from Hackney Downs station on Sandringham Road, we're easy for guests to find. Film crews particularly love the variety of backdrops across our floors, from faded grandeur to warm, intimate corners perfect for any creative vision.
