The Hardwick Room takes its name from the architect who understood how Thames light could transform a space, and you'll see his vision the moment you enter. Perched on the first floor of our 1660 building, this room captures river views through generous windows that frame Greenwich's maritime heritage beautifully. We've preserved the original wooden paneling that lines these walls, each panel telling its own story from centuries of naval gatherings and celebrations. The double-height ceilings create an impressive sense of space, while our carefully chosen chandeliers cast just the right warmth across the parquet floors for evening events. For birthday parties and anniversary celebrations, we can arrange round tables for 60 guests, creating an intimate dining atmosphere where conversation flows as easily as the Thames outside. Corporate gatherings work particularly well here too, with theatre-style seating for 70 or boardroom configurations for 35. Standing receptions accommodate up to 70 guests, perfect for cocktail parties where people naturally gather by the windows to watch the river traffic pass by. Company of Cooks, our catering partners, know this room well and craft menus that complement both daytime and evening celebrations. The light-colored walls provide a neutral canvas for your chosen decorations, whether you're planning elegant floral arrangements or something more contemporary. Being on the first floor means climbing our original 17th-century staircase, which adds to the sense of occasion as guests arrive. The Cutty Sark DLR station sits just a short walk away, making it simple for guests traveling from across London.
