Step through the medieval archway off Threadneedle Street and climb the stone stairs to discover The Great Hall, where 13-meter ceilings soar above centuries of celebration. We've been welcoming guests to this remarkable space since the 14th century, and the room still takes people's breath away when they first walk in. Those three-meter-tall stained-glass windows transform throughout the day. Morning events get soft, filtered light that makes the mahogany organ on the gallery glow, while afternoon celebrations see dramatic patterns dancing across the patterned carpets below. Our magnificent chandeliers take over as evening falls, casting warm light across the rich wood paneling that lines the walls. The space adapts beautifully to different occasions. We can arrange banquet seating for 280 of your guests, create theatre-style rows for 380, or keep things flowing with a standing reception for 350. Many hosts use the dais as a natural stage for speeches, toasts, or performances, with the organ providing an impressive backdrop. For cabaret-style events, we accommodate 192 guests at round tables, perfect for mixing dining with entertainment. Corporate gatherings often start with presentations using our full AV setup, then transform the space for gala dinners. Wedding parties love how the hall connects to our other spaces, allowing guests to flow between the Courtyard Garden for drinks and back inside for dancing. Birthday celebrations and anniversary parties take advantage of the room's grandeur while maintaining an intimate atmosphere through clever lighting and layout.
