The painted gardens bloom across our crypt ceiling, where artists have transformed stone arches into a living canvas of colour and imagination. This Unique Event Space occupies the ancient foundations beneath the 19th-century Church of the English Martyrs, creating an underground sanctuary where 125 guests can mingle amongst the murals or 50 can dine surrounded by hand-painted dreamscapes. We've watched countless celebrations unfold here, from wedding receptions where couples exchange toasts beneath the vaulted stonework to fashion shows where models emerge from between painted columns. The natural acoustics of our crypt amplify every laugh, every clink of champagne glasses, every beat of music from the PA system. Our elegant bar stretches along one wall, its hanging glassware catching the warm light while bartenders pour cocktails and uncork bottles from our extensive selection. Plush vintage furniture creates intimate corners for conversation, while the main floor remains open for dancing or mingling. The projector throws images against our painted walls when needed for presentations or visual displays, though most prefer to let the existing artwork speak for itself. Our rotating exhibitions from the Stash Gallery mean the backdrop shifts with each event, contemporary pieces mingling with the permanent murals to create ever-changing environments. Just minutes from Tower Hill, Aldgate, and Aldgate East stations, guests descend our stairs to leave London behind. The space adapts effortlessly, whether arranged cabaret-style for 50 or cleared for standing receptions. We stay open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, giving parties time to develop their own rhythm. Our outdoor patio provides breathing space when the underground energy needs balancing with fresh air and conversation under the stars.
