About Audit Room
16 Boardroom
Twelve ladder-back mahogany chairs with crimson cushions circle the grand oak refectory table, where Manchester's merchant princes once conducted their business. This 17th-century chamber served as the College Warden's private study, and today brings that same sense of occasion to board meetings and strategic planning sessions. The carved wooden bosses adorning nine ceiling panels watch over discussions just as they have for centuries. Original plasterwork frames the space, while dark wood panelling absorbs conversations in confidence. Natural light streams through leaded windows, illuminating the polished floors and creating patterns across the table where up to 16 colleagues can gather in boardroom configuration. We've preserved every historical detail while ensuring the room functions for modern meetings. The three-legged chair attributed to Humphrey Chetham remains in its corner, a reminder of the generations who've made decisions within these walls. The stone fireplace, though no longer lit, anchors the room with its substantial presence. For presentations, we provide projector facilities and conference call capabilities, discretely integrated to maintain the period atmosphere. The Wi-Fi connects seamlessly throughout the building. During breaks, attendees often step into the contemporary Oglesby Atrium, where floor-to-ceiling windows offer a complete change of scene before returning to focused discussion. Transport couldn't be simpler from our Long Millgate location in Manchester's Medieval Quarter. The combination of historical gravitas and practical amenities makes the Audit Room particularly effective for negotiations, annual reviews, and any meeting where atmosphere matters as much as outcomes. Private dinners here take on special significance, with the intimate scale and centuries of history creating memorable occasions for select groups.
