The moment you step into The Gate Arts Centre on Keppoch Street in Cardiff, you're surrounded by the soaring architecture of our Grade II listed church building—complete with original carved columns and Gothic windows that flood our spaces with natural light. We've carefully preserved these historic details while creating versatile meeting spaces that work brilliantly for modern conferences and business gatherings. Our main theatre seats 350 people in the original wooden pews, with a raked gallery floor that ensures everyone has clear sightlines—perfect for presentations or keynote speakers. The acoustics, designed for congregational singing over a century ago, now serve conferences beautifully, carrying voices clearly without excessive amplification. For smaller meetings or breakout sessions, we offer our dance studio, where the original carved pulpit creates an unexpected focal point, and our two exhibition galleries provide intimate spaces for workshops or networking. Between sessions, delegates naturally gather in our café bar, housed in what was the original schoolroom from 1896. The exposed beams and period details create a relaxed atmosphere for those important coffee-break conversations. We run this space throughout the day, so refreshments are always available without having to leave the building. Getting here couldn't be easier—we're well-connected by Cardiff's bus routes, and the nearest train station is just a short walk away. While we don't have our own car park, there are several public options nearby. We've installed a lift and ramp access throughout the building, plus accessible toilets and a dedicated viewing platform, ensuring all delegates can move comfortably between spaces. Our team has hosted everything from corporate AGMs to creative industry conferences, and we understand how to make your event run smoothly.
