dining · The Foundling Museum
The Picture Gallery
The Foundling Museum tells the poignant story of the Foundling Hospital, London’s first children’s charity and first public art gallery. Housed in a Grade II-listed Georgian-style building, the Museum offers a mix of historic interiors and contemporary event spaces, providing a unique setting for your wedding, meeting, dinner or Christmas party. The Court Room, one of London’s finest original Rococo interiors, provides an ideal setting for intimate dinners. A re-creation of the original Foundling Hospital Court Room used for entertaining important guests, the room contains many fine examples of British art and design with paintings by Thomas Gainsborough and William Hogarth, alongside a striking 18th-century marble chimneypiece. The stunning Persian carpet enhances the Collection and tall windows open out onto Brunswick Square. Up to 40 can be seated, with a maximum of 20 on a single table. Alternatively this space provides the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks. Located next to the Court Room is the grand Picture Gallery, available for larger events. Large-scale paintings by the most celebrated 18th-century portraitists, once displayed in the original Foundling Hospital, provide a powerful backdrop for events. Guests can dine alongside Hogarth’s magnificent painting of the Hospital’s founder, Thomas Coram. Ideal for group dining in London, this unique room can hold up to 100 seated on round tables, or a maximum of 46 on a single table. A private tour of the Museum can be included as part of your event, and for classical music fans, an opportunity to view the Gerald Coke Handel Collection makes for a truly unique experience.

London Charity Dinner Venues: Tips and Ideas

  • Every fundraiser knows the importance of having a well maintained network of supporters and a contact list full of potential guests. Sending out personalised invitations is a great way to ensure that your charity event is well attended.
  • The more special you make the event itself, the more it will stand out in a calendar which can boast quite a lot of similar fundraising evenings. Going that extra mile when it comes to catering, entertainment or drinks will make a real difference and get people talking.
  • If you want to mark your event out as much as possible, getting imaginative in terms of the theme or venue itself can be a big winner. You might like to look at some of our unusual space venues or rooftop venues for inspiration.
  • Of course, the most important thing to remember is that this event is dedicated to a really important charitable cause. You will want everyone attending to enjoy themselves a lot, but you also want to make sure that everyone leaves with a very strong sense of the work that's being done and how their contributions can make a big difference.

If you're just dipping your toes in the water and this is the first time you've had to organise a Charity Dinner event, take a look at this excellent article from Eventbrite on How to Host the Perfect Charity Dinner.
