Party Hall Tips and Ideas

  • It’s always a smart idea to book as far in advance as possible, since the better party venues will get snapped up quickly. A good rule of thumb is to book the hall at least three months before the date of your event, but keep in mind that the most glamorous and popular party halls may be booked up to six months in advance.

  • Have you thought about how the location of your venue will affect your guest’s travel plans? Good transport links will always make life easier for those on the invite list, so make sure to study the nearest train stations, bus routes and timetables. It doesn’t hurt to research any planned road maintenance as well if you expect some of your guests to travel by car.

  • Do you know whether you want the event to be catered? If your event is starting late, it’s safe to assume that guests will have already eaten, but if you want the evening to be a lavish affair there’s no reason not to provide canapés and other finger foods. Remember that kitchen facilities can vary quite a lot from venue to venue, which will affect the ease of serving hot or cold food.

  • Will you need a bar or waiting staff to serve drinks? Different parties call for different arrangements. A big birthday celebration with a large number of guests may benefit from having extra staff to serve refreshments. (It cuts down on time spent queuing at the bar, so party-goers are free to chat and relax). If you want drinks to feature quite centrally, it might be worth looking at some bar hire venues as well.

  • If you want added flexibility for the food and drinks menu, it might be worth considering venues which offer ‘dry hire’. This will allow you more freedom in choosing what type of catering and what selection of drinks are provided during the party.

  • Does your party have a theme? Having one can actually make choosing a venue much simpler. A fancy dress party with a Game of Thrones theme will have different requirements to an elegant, black tie reception. The atmosphere you want to achieve will influence whether a small party hall is most suitable, or a large hall with elaborate furnishings and décor.

  • Depending on the scale of your event, you might want to arrange for a private area at the venue. It could be set up especially for VIP guests or to provide somewhere a bit quieter where guests can go and talk, away from the dance floor.

  • If food is central to your plans, you might like to think about hiring a bespoke banqueting hall to match all your dining desires.

Why Hire a Party Hall?

The first answer to that question is perhaps a little obvious: you're throwing a big party and you want a venue which can accommodate all your guests. However, we've put together a list of other reasons why an opulent party hall might be just right:

  • The one thing that's guaranteed with a party hall is a sense of occasion. You probably wont be throwing a party like this every year, so why not embrace the extravagance?
  • If you'd like to host a concert as part of the event's entertainment, hall's tend to be well set up in terms of acoustics and equipment.
  • Large halls tend to be a bit of a blank canvass. If you have a very particular idea about how to decorate the space, this might be just what you're looking for.
  • With all the space at your disposal, everything can be done under one roof. From dining to dancing, it will all be possible without guests moving from one room to another.
